Updated Requirements for All Dispensaries – Effective 07/01/2026
Effective July 1, 2026, dispensaries are required to update exit packaging to include revised warnings. These warnings must be placed next to the universal marijuana symbol and must include an addiction resource link (QR code) printed on all exit packaging.
All required warning language for the exit bags must be reproduced verbatim and printed in black ink against a white background.
Per 16-12-215, MCA:
- WARNING: Consumption of marijuana may cause anxiety, agitation, paranoia, psychosis, and excessive vomiting.
- WARNING: Consumption of marijuana by pregnant women may result in fetal injury and low birth weight.
- WARNING: Consumption of marijuana by nursing mothers may result in infant hyperactivity and poor cognitive function.
- WARNING: Driving while under the influence of marijuana is a crime.
Please note: Industry partners are not required to resubmit exit packaging for updated warning statements; compliance will be verified during inspections.
Additionally, dispensaries must display a new consumer education poster at each point of sale. These posters must include the updated exit warning messages, the universal marijuana warning symbol, and the website address, phone number, and QR code for a resource related to marijuana addiction.
An administrative hearing will be held to establish regulations governing the educational posters and exit packaging.
Ingestible-Infused Products: Maximum Serving Sizes – Effective 07/01/2026
Effective July 1, 2026, the maximum milligrams per serving of THC for ingestible-infused products will be reduced from 10 milligrams to 5 milligrams, in accordance with 16-12-224(8)(iv), MCA.
Products labeled with more than 5 milligrams of THC per serving before July 1, 2026, may not be sold after that date. Products already produced in compliance with the new 5mg-per-serving limit are not subject to this restriction.
Licensees are responsible for ensuring all inventory is compliant before the deadline.
