🪪 Who Can Buy Cannabis in Montana?

• I am 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID.
• I’m purchasing from a licensed dispensary (look for official signage).
• I understand some counties do not allow recreational sales, so I’ll check local rules before I go.

📦 How Much Can I Buy or Carry?

• Per transaction, I can purchase up to 1 ounce of flower, 8 grams of concentrate, 800 mg infused non-ingestible products, or 800 mg THC in edibles.
• When driving, I’ll keep cannabis in sealed packaging and out of reach.

🏠 Where Can I Use It?

• Private property only — no public use (parks, sidewalks, hotels, etc.).
• I will never use cannabis in a vehicle, even if parked.
• Federal lands (like national parks) are off-limits — cannabis is still illegal there.

🍪 Trying Edibles?

• I’ll start low (2.5–5 mg THC) and wait at least 90 minutes before taking more.

  Effective 7/1/2026, single-serving size units are 5 mg THC.

• I know effects can last 6–8 hours, and I’ll plan accordingly.

🚗 Driving? Don’t Risk It.

• I will not drive under the influence of cannabis or alcohol.
• Montana law sets a 5 ng/mL THC limit for DUI charges.
• If I’ve consumed anything, I’ll use a rideshare, taxi, or designated driver.

🌱 Can I Grow My Own?

• Only Montana residents can grow cannabis at home.
• Visitors are not allowed to cultivate cannabis.

🤝 Be a Respectful Guest

• I’ll store cannabis safely and out of sight.
• I’ll follow local laws and respect private property rules.
• I’ll ask questions at dispensaries — they’re here to help.
