Agricultural Land Valuation Advisory Committee


The department has a working relationship with the agricultural lands valuation advisory committee. The committee makes recommendations to the department for consideration in valuing Montana's agricultural property for the next reappraisal cycle. The governor appoints citizens knowledgeable in agriculture and agricultural economics to the advisory committee. One member of the committee has to be a staff member from Montana State University - Bozeman, College of Agriculture.

Forest Lands Taxation Advisory Committee


The department has a working relationship with the forest lands taxation advisory committee. The committee makes recommendations to the department for consideration in valuing Montana's forest land property for the next reappraisal cycle. The committee consists of seven members, including four members with expertise in forest matters. The majority and minority leaders of the Senate and House of Representatives each appoint one of these four members. The remaining three members, an industrial forest landowner, a non-industrial forest landowner and a county commissioner are appointed by the governor. Section 15-44-103, MCA outlines the specific roles and responsibilities of the advisory committee.

Revenue and Transportation Interim Committee


The Revenue and Transportation Committee is a 12-member, joint bipartisan committee of the Legislature that meets between legislative sessions. It has administrative rule review, draft legislation review, program evaluation, and monitoring responsibilities for the Montana Department of Revenue and the Montana Department of Transportation. The committee also conducts interim studies and generally reviews matters related to taxation and transportation. The Department of Revenue provides a series of reports to each meeting of the Committee and these reports are included below.
